Handmade Matcha Whisk (Chasen) – Purple Bamboo

Made for the perfect cup of aōza matcha. This engraved purple bamboo chasen is hand-carved in China in the traditional Zhen style: a whisk shape designed to bring out the smooth foam and vibrant color of ceremonial matcha. Crafted from natural purple bamboo, each whisk has its own character: variations in wood tone, grain, and engraving depth are part of its handmade nature.

Use: Whisk 1–2 scoops of aōza matcha in hot water until frothy.

Material: Purple bamboo, engraved.

Care instructions:

• Before first use: soak the tips in warm water for 1–2 minutes to soften the bamboo.
• After each use: rinse with lukewarm water only. Do not use soap or dishwasher.
• Gently shake off excess water, pat with a cloth, and place on a whisk holder to keep its shape.
• Allow to air-dry completely before storing.
• Replace every 2–4 months with daily use, as the prongs naturally soften and separate over time.
